With nearly four decades in the remodeling industry, Matt Barns brings more than just experience—he brings intention, integrity, and a drive for excellence.
He began his journey in home remodeling in 1986, building a reputation for dedication, leadership, and hands-on expertise. Matt joined Kitchens Plus in 1994 as a designer and quickly advanced to Sales Manager of the La Mesa location just two years later. By 2000, he was overseeing daily operations as General Manager of both locations, and in 2003, he stepped into the role of Vice President of Operations. By 2007, he officially took the reins as owner and president of the company.
Under Matt’s leadership, Kitchens Plus has grown into a company that homeowners return to again and again—built on trust, consistency, and relationships that last. Many team members have worked alongside him for decades, a testament to the culture he’s created: steady, dependable and built to last.
Matt has been married over 35 years and has two grown kids (Plus the family dog, Sammi). He holds many titles that speak to his drive—licensed General Contractor, black belt in Chinese Kenpo Karate, certified scuba diver, real estate agent, U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain, and longtime youth sports coach. In his rare spare time, he’s usually out fishing or perfecting a batch of homemade beef jerky.
