Overall, we are very happy with Kitchen's Plus. Dennis was very easy to work with. The demolition took only a few days, and the workers were very conscientious about keeping our carpets clean and would always clean up at the end of the day. The person who was managing the project came to check on the progress often and was easily available. Everyone from the plumber and tilers were very knowledgeable and professional. Even though the project took longer than we expected, everything went smoothly. We have heard horror stories from friends and co-workers with their contractors, but Kitchen Plus was professional and took care of all the problems we've encountered on a timely manner. We first contacted Dennis, one of the designers, in December of 2010 to get an estimate of our master bathroom remodel. Dennis listened to our wants and needs and incorporated them into the design. Our project was a complete remodel which meant gutting the entire bathroom including a small closet. Kitchen Plus organized the entire remodel with all the vendors from the plumber to the tilers, vanity cabinets, and glass shower door providers. Because of our own schedule conflict, the project didn't start until February 2011. Initial estimate for completion was 3 weeks but ended up being 6 mainly because of the delay of getting some materials.

Kitchens Plus recently remodeled our kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with the result. Our new kitchen is 200% more functional and looks a lot nicer than the old one. Dennis Perrine was our designer. We didn’t have the budget to increase the size of our kitchen space and Dennis did an amazing and creative job with the space we had to work with. We had spoken with three other designers from three other contracting companies before we met Dennis. His approach towards design was much more flexible and creative than everyone else’s. Without his design skills we wouldn’t have near the functionality that we now have in our kitchen. Dennis was incredibly patient over the four months it took us to complete the design and make all of our decisions. He did many iterations of the design for us until we knew we had everything exactly how we wanted it. Because of the effort we all put in up front, we had only one very small change order after signing the contract, and that was due to a minor change we requested to the quartz backsplash edge detail. When we got stuck trying to make color decisions Jen Timmons, another Kitchens Plus designer, stepped in to help us. She has an impeccable eye for color and did a great job of guiding us through countertop, paint, flooring, cabinet knobs and pulls, and window covering decisions. She made all those choices go easily and quickly. Without her it probably would have taken us weeks longer to complete these last decisions, and it would not look nearly as nice as it does. Mike and Loretto did a wonderful job with our demo, electrical work, and cabinet installation. They were easy to have in the house and did great quality work. Someone was here on time every day they were supposed to be here. A few cabinet configuration issues we ran into along the way were handled quickly and effectively. Our curved island presented a difficult installation challenge and Mike stuck with it until it was all put together, and the result is beautiful. Mike was always willing to patiently address any concerns or questions I had during construction. Gary, our project manager, always took my calls or called me back in reasonable time frames when I had questions that Mike was unable to answer. We had some issues with our countertop fabrication and installation and Matt at Kitchens Plus worked with the fabricator Kitchens Plus had hired to make sure that everything was taken care of in a timely and acceptable fashion. Gary managed to keep moving the scheduling of the plumber around to handle the delays which allowed us to start using our kitchen by Christmas as planned. The plumbing install and gas line move done by Kitchens Plus plumber Gary went quickly and smoothly. Small issues that we found near the end of and after installation have all been quickly addressed by Matt and Gary. Everyone I spoke with at Kitchens Plus over the course of the design, contract, and construction phases of our project was friendly and helpful. I had a lot of questions and concerns along the way, and nobody ever made me feel that I was being a pest or being difficult. We paid Kitchens Plus $36,271 for the part of the remodel handled by their employees or that they managed for us which included design, demo, electrical, plumbing, lighting, drywall repair, countertop fabrication and installation, and cabinet purchase and installation. We hired our own painter and flooring installer. The entire remodel, including Kitchens Plus portion, new high-end appliances, paint, flooring, sink and plumbing fixtures, window coverings, and other organization odds and ends ended up costing about $53,000. We probably could have remodeled our kitchen for less, but if we had, I don’t think it would be anywhere near as functional and attractive as it is now. It was money very well spent. When we’re ready to do our bathrooms, we’ll be going back to Kitchens Plus and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a remodeling contractor.

They quoted me about $51,000 and it was basically for kitchen remodeling. My interaction with them went fine. They weren’t very flexible with their meeting time. It may be because of my schedule too since I work. It took us a while to schedule a time when a person could come out to take pictures and measurements. So that was a little hard to set up. They didn’t seem to be as flexible as some of the other people that we talked with. Other than that, the bid was very professional. They did make follow-up calls to see if we had made any decisions. It was okay, but they could be a little flexible with their appointments. However, it wasn’t a big deal. They were probably the most expensive out of the other 4 estimates that I got. It didn’t seem to me like I would have got lot for the money because I thought that they were a little overpriced. So, I wouldn’t use them for that reason.

The work took six weeks over the holidays which should have been a logistical nightmare, but Matt and his various subcontractors were flexible and coordinated well to prevent any unnecessary delays. The biggest problem was with the kitchen sink I had purchased; it arrived broken. As did two replacements, side note: stay away from composite granite sinks, they are extremely fragile. This delayed the countertop installation, so Matt accelerated the floor installation to keep things moving forward. After the third broken sink arrived, I switched to a stainless-steel sink. By then the stone countertop had already been cut. Matt worked with the fabricator to insure the new sink and countertop would fit together with minimal adjustments to the countertop rather than cutting a new countertop slab.  None of the contractors I interviewed understood my vision for a decorative tiled niche, including Matt. But Matt, his carpenter, and tile installer listened to me and gave me advice that I listened to and kept or adjusted to fit my vision. That flexibility resulted in a finished tile niche that matched my vision. Remodels are stressful (three broken sinks didn't help) but Matt and his subcontractors were very friendly and that helped keep the stress manageable. There were quick to correct flaws that came up. I can look over my new kitchen and say I am very happy with the work.

Matt Barns the owner of Kitchens Plus is the best contractor we have ever had the pleasure of working with. From the start his designer Dennis came up with a clever plan to make our small kitchen into a more useful modern functioning space. Most other contractors want you to pay extra for their designs even before you decide to use their company. We interviewed a couple of other companies but did not get the same warm and friendly attention that Kitchens Plus offered. Two of my neighbors had used Kitchens Plus in the past and they came highly recommended. Matt listened to our wants and needs and was on top of every detail throughout the entire project. If I ever had a question, I was able to text or email Matt and have an answer within a very short amount of time. This took a lot of stress out of the project knowing Matt would always come through and make things right. The came in, hung plastic to keep the dust in the kitchen area, placed protective materials to protect the floors and cleared out the kitchen in one day. The quickly had their plumber and electrician come in to drop a gas line and relocate the electrical plugs and quickly patched, refinished and painted the kitchen walls. All was coordinated very well with no time lost to scheduling. They had preordered the cabinets so that there was no time lost waiting for delivery and had all the cabinets up in about three days. What took the longest was the countertop fabrication which was out of their control and is typical in kitchen remodeling. As soon as the countertop was ready and installed, they came back the next day to install doors, drawers, touchup, etc. They kept close communication with us letting us know what their status was and responded back to us very quickly if we had any questions. I have recommended them to friends and family how have used them as well and have been very happy with their service.
